Most democracies worldwide consider their citizens rights an important thing to protect.
But the US still have the death penalty, so voting rights are a minor point.

I'm not arguing against him being able to use the weak, I'm fully with you there.
Because it doesn't change the fact that an impeached former president and a convicted criminal gets to become president, just because some greedy mofos can play the system.

1. There's quite a number of countries that don't let felons vote.
Personally I'm glad to now live in a country where this isn't a thing.
Also, it's just another tool of voter suppression.
2. Holding an office, now there I'd agree strongly.
