I like wildlife, and wildlife gardening in particular. I want to know what comes to my garden during the day and at night (moths, V61). Amateur photographer. South-East Yorkshire, UK.
I had no idea it was that many. But now I can see why I frequently had splitting headaches after emptying my trap. 😄

You made me wonder how many NFG micros I trapped this year, so I just counted them. I got 95, but I didn't pay much attention to them in previous years. I can't spell the majority of their names, so I'm not looking forward to organising so many into folders.

Thank you.

Thanks. They are beautiful birds.

I've often thought that moths that choose to be around in the winter should be around regardless of the weather, but it doesn't seem to work that way. I might have to set up a trap outside my garden to catch a December Moth.

Thanks. But now that it's 0.3°C, I already regret putting the trap out. 🥶😅

Roll on next year, then. 🤞 Given how many new moths I trapped this year, I don't think I'll get many next year.

Thanks. Sorting through 15k photos does sound daunting. I'd been putting off filing all of this year's macros until I made a few collages. I still have a lot of micros to sort, and I don't want to do any of them.

Thanks. I also had trouble finding many of the shots, but I was to blame for not sorting the images after editing. On an external hard drive, each moth has its own folder. But I take a very long time to add images to the folders. I always plan to do it tomorrow. 🙄

Thanks, but you've got me wondering what your next word would've been. 🤣

Believe me, I have many photos of moths with an odd number of legs visible. Some don't even have any showing. So I won't be judging your photos. I wouldn't, anyway. 😅

Blowing gently under the wings usually works for me. To stabilise themselves, they will extend their legs. If it doesn't work, blow harder and disregard my advice to blow gently. 😅

Sensible decision-making is definitely a weakness of mine. 😅

Posting your best photos is definitely something you should do. If I didn't go through, edit, and upload any unused photos, they would stay on an SD card, disorganised, and mostly forgotten. Since I wouldn't be motivated to arrange my photos into folders otherwise, I'm glad I share them here.

I think it's safe to say that Sir Terry is most likely heading in my direction.

Of course, you're right, but I'll be shocked if there's anything in the trap in the morning.
