This just seems like our cap management is smarter than that of our opponents. Some spend more, but not better. Does GAM roll over year to year…indefinitely?

How can we use this money if we've maxed out on GAM for this season? Transfer fees for promising lower league players we bring into Defiance? Thinking of Omaha guy we just brought-might be smart--buy 5 guys, hope one or two develop in our system. Reed gets a chance, and we have good options

Every year it seems like the Sounders have enviable depth, and every year injuries mean they need most of that depth. IfArriola looks good early while Pedro is out, maybe they move him in the summer to make room for Georgi playing time. Don’t want Georgi going anywhere …I’d trade Rothrock first.

Woah, that’s some good news!

Wonder if there’s any amount of money that could literally him to Mexico…I mean, doesn’t he get a cut of any transfer fee? So if Club America pays $10 mill and some Euro team offers 3 million…he would stand to make a lot more money

Interesting timetable. Almost certainly back for last 2/3 of next season, which means there’s no possibility of putting him on the season ending injury list a la Arriola this year. Hard to imagine keeping Kent if Pedro can come back. Too much winger cover already to keep Kent.

Woah, this is news. Thats two key offensive pieces potentially back for this week, and one more healthy and training. Wonder how long the paperwork will take for Kent? ALL this can’t come too soon…

I’m curious to see the distance covered for Pedro. He was dangerous, and literally everywhere on the field. Between him and Georgi, there is a LOT of electricity on this team….

Honestly, being a soccer fan is tough sometimes. One bonehead play in an otherwise dominant performance ruins the night. For folks who think this is like last year, you clearly didn’t watch last year. We scored 2 goals and played much faster than last year. Sh… happens and we move onward…

We can sign him to help us integrate Son from Spurs into the group….

I don’t think you can find many (any?) 7 yr pros with LESS of an injury history than JF. All players get hurt at some point…(Morris-2 acls, CR-concussion, JP-hip, Obed-back, Nico-acl, Atencio-hammy, Paul-quad, Raul-hammy, etc…). JF is probably less injury prone than most anyone else

Nobody that would cost less than $10 million, and certainly nobody who is as likely to produce in this league as a guy who’s got 53 goals in MLS by age 24. Anything on intl market is a much much bigger gamble (see PDLV)

I do wonder if Atencio might eventually play as a center back in a 3. I think the jury is out on whether he can be a starting 6 on a championship team. If JP is truly coming back, then Atencio is the 4th dmid. Does he make a move to get playing time, or just shift back a line?

I could see P-Rock as a left wingback. Honestly, I still think the 4-2-3-1 will be our base formation. I’d like to see more of Pedro on the left where he can cut in to shoot with his right foot. Some tough choices ahead…a lot of good attackers but none so amazing that they are written in pen.
December 31, 2024 at 5:20 PM
I wonder that as well. I tend to agree that Pedro is a 10 long term…but not yet…he turns the ball over too much now. Signing JF however, who can play as a 10 of needed, might be a little extra leverage in the Rusnak negotiations.

Very true, but it sure would be nice to be in the SS Race for once as well….
December 31, 2024 at 5:10 PM
I wish him well and hope he figures it out in Dallas, except when playing us. Funny enough, he still had way more end product than Georgi, so I think there’s still hope for him somewhere….
December 31, 2024 at 4:22 PM
I think Morris is heading back to wing when both are available. I still see the 4-2-3-1 as base formation. JM may not love that, but he’s a team player.

I don’t think there’s any way the Sounders get more than 1.5 for Chu, so let’s call this a transfer fee of 3.5 mil and Sounders get Chu salary of 550k off books. That’s good business, and Ferreira improves team by any measure. Is it enough to make SSFC a top 5 MLS contender? We shall see
December 31, 2024 at 4:18 PM
Really Good business for Sounders, and hopefully Chu gets his mojo back in Dallas. Hope Sounders have a couple more up their sleeve but this is good
December 31, 2024 at 3:49 PM
The big question, right? I assume deal would have gotten done awhile ago if they were just gonna make him a DP….we shall see
December 31, 2024 at 3:45 PM
A very good signing. If we assume Chu is now worth max $1.5 million, Sounders got a proven DP level player for less than 4mil.
