she/her. I'm into sewing, fashion, costuming, museum design & curation, history, sci-fi/fantasy, film, archaeology, anthropology, linguistics, space, dinosaurs, and travel. I don't auto-followback. Always punch Nazis, healthcare is a right, eat the rich.
Mine was my dominant index finger, though, so it's harder to work without using it! I did feel like regularly doing that stretch could have helped me get able to do more, but it was just a fun project so I didn't push on it. If that description doesn't make sense, I can take pictures if you'd like.

I've now determined through trial and error that I can hand sew for 45 minutes 3 times a week without causing problems, but any more than that and it starts again, even with stretches. But at no time did I see a doctor, so someone else may have better advice.

Having broken several fingers, hard agree, absolutely splint for that. My improvised solution to finger curling from hand sewing was to start doing stretches pulling my fingers back over my hand, jointly and one-by-one, but I also stopped hand-sewing for a while, which isn't always possible.

As one who has done it, also it takes FOREVER. Plus, if you get multiple colors they will wash into each other, so after just 2-3 washes it'll look very different to how it started out, and some colors wash out really fast. If you do DIY, my fancy salon just uses those Crazy Colors dyes.

It's about the same price as getting it done ime, but of course wigs don't grow roots or wash out which mean cost-per-outing-looking-nice is probably lower. Also, wigs don't dye your face if you drool in your sleep OR dye your shower, but there is a whole learning process to putting them on right.

omg, omg, omg!!

Oh, those look AMAZING.

Oh yeah, I had that screw too and HAD to get it out. The differently placed ones on the other ankle are all fine (not ideal, but adequate), but that one just sucked balls.

So you found the best restaurant in the world. I'm jealous!

It really is! I would sign up for this, no question

Thank you for having a per-article charge, I really appreciate that.

I am DESPERATELY hoping that those people don't have children in their house, ever, because she is ready and willing to take on the adults, kids wouldn't stand a chance. This is so cruel to her.

Yay? But also boo? But also yay? No surgery is great, wolverines in the rib cage not so much. I hope it heals fast, this just sucks.

Yay, snow day!

I had a look when my mother was diagnosed, and human hair wigs of good quality range from an ass-load to a metric fuck-ton, depending on color/length/texture. As I recall they started at a couple grand for something short in straight/black and went up from there.

I was just thinking this- what a bummer, I really enjoy these!

Eff them all, that's absolute nightmare fuel.

AMAZING. A college friend saran-wrapped her boyfriend's dorm room. She got huge rolls that the cafeteria was getting rid of and wrapped everything: the clothing inside each drawer, then the drawer, then the dresser, kind of thing. He was finding wrapped items for months afterward.

May the outcome be positive.

Yeah, I didn't want to jinx us all with 'make rudimentary tools from rocks' or 'throw an atl-atl with reasonable accuracy'! Hoping not to use those, but who knows.

Nope, they just call those muffins here. I would absolutely describe oven bottom muffins as a kind of roll, they don't have English muffin texture. I have only ever had the Sheldon's kind, so there might be variants, I suppose, but I've been assured that they're prototypical.

They're a British kind of sandwich roll. Soft white bread that's gently browned top and bottom. Nice enough but not super distinctive, really.

It's a thing. I tell my parents (whose retirement savings have increased since they both retired), that I don't want them to leave it all to me, I went them to spend it on things that make their lives better! But it was a fight to make Dad replace their 40-year-old dishwasher b/c 'it still works'.

Oh no! I hope you feel better in the morning.
