This seems a shortsighted strategy in that partially mitigating the $$ pain of tariffs, then the take away for low info voters will be that tariffs aren’t that bad.

Measures to help people should be targeted and direct, and ideally done in such a way that Dems can take credit for governing

Isn’t at least part of it explained by the lawsuits being settled by ABC, potentially 60 Minutes, etc., i.e. editors at national media are killing stories for fear of retribution?
