Mike also makes the point that the Clausius-Clapyron effect (a +7% increase in rain per degree of warming) was amplified by local dynamics. He says "slight increases in horizontal wind speed can have a significant vertical motion response. In these regions, orographic lifting compounds the change."

New rapid attribution by Mike Wehner and colleagues at LBL shows that climate change increased Hurricane Helene's rainfall by up to 50% in some parts of Georgia and the Carolinas, and made the event up to 20x more likely.
