Feast your eyes on the cover design for the 1898 Edition of Tomb of the Sun King!

I am beyond excited to see how this looks in black and gold foil on a rich blue real cloth binding with all the vintage details.

Coming to Kickstarter April 3. Follow the campaign at JacquelynBenson.com/1898.

A new, redesigned version of The Steampunk Explorer will go live within the next 24 hours. The site may be unavailable (briefly) while this happens. This was necessitated by the pending demise of our content management system. We've rebuilt the site in a new CMS. We hope you like it. #steampunk

How the past three weeks went for me:
- I forgot about the four year anniversary of my debut novel
- Haven’t written a word
- Haven’t read any books
- Was absent on all socials, including Discord, where my favourite people reside.
Slowly catching up with everything. Hello again, world!

My upcoming historical fantasy (Jack the Ripper retelling) The Catcher of Souls is finally formatted and ready for the final proof. Today was a good day. #victorian #historicalfantasy

Motivational coffee for a day that looks pretty busy. Let’s do some work. And some edits. And even some outlining?

I’ve seen something similar at the British Museum and it was creepy as heck. That one (also Victorian) was created using the same technique, and sold for lots of money as a mermaid to wealthy collectors. Next to it was a narwhal tusk that passed as unicorn horn. Oh, Victorians…
A VICTORIAN MERMAN

Objects like this were often made from the torsos of monkeys and the tails of fish. They were displayed by showmen like P. T Barnum to audiences who believed they were real. This particular one is on display at the Horniman Museum, London. #skystorians #histmed #histsci

Something to look forward to. Plus, #steampunk vibes (or it’s just my wishful thinking). This is going to be an interesting adaptation, for sure.
First look at Guillermo del Toro's ‘FRANKENSTEIN’

Starring Oscar Isaac as Dr. Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein’s monster.

Releasing on Netflix in 2025.

Here's your #DailyDose of medical history!

COFFIN COLLARS were used to thwart bodysnatchers in the early 19th century. The collar was fixed around the neck of a corpse and bolted to the bottom of a coffin. Bodysnatchers sold bodies to anatomists and medical schools. #skystorians #histmed

Best thing to do when you have an almost finished manuscript? Add an extra scene, of course! It’s a good day for writing. Definitely.

One of my favourite authors (and persons) has just arrived on Bluesky with an entire arsenal of great stories and feisty, independent ladies (and charismatic gentlemen) who populate her books. Welcome!
Hello, world. I've landed in BlueSky. And I need a starter pack for people who will tell me more cool stuff about bog bodies.

A great #steampunk romance and first in a series (of which my favourite is The Silver Skull but that’s another story). I love Anne Renwick’s use of her medical expertise in her steampunk books. Definitely a must read!
Where it all started.
Spiders weave. So a clockwork spider in a medical setting could... spin nerves? Ethical scientists would use that for good... But the mad scientists working for the dark side would not… and THE GOLDEN SPIDER was born.

Finished watching both seasons of the Rings of Power and I'm not sure whether to consider myself a hero or a masochist. Either way, I need therapy in the form of a good book or movie to forget about the cringy metaphors, atrocious script, poorly executed characters, and that broth of a storyline.

The Steampunk Explorer has created a starter pack for steampunk. Excellent work, as always! We definitely needed this.
Bluesky recently introduced "starter packs," which allow users to create lists of accounts around certain topics. I couldn't find any on steampunk, so I created one. go.bsky.app/15HLHgq
