A #whale carcass was found on the shore near #Húsavík yesterday. It appears to be a female beaked whale calf. A staff member at the town's Whale #Museum says whale watching guides had recently noticed an injured calf.

The #osprey is a common #bird across much of the world, but rather rare in #Iceland. Sigurjón Einarsson, amateur photographer and naturalist, says around forty of the birds have been seen here. He took this video at #Akrafjall on Friday. The species lives exclusively on #fish.

A large #humpback whale nicknamed #Ozzy Osbourne lay dead on the shore of #Eyjafjörður near #Grenivík, believed to have stranded on a shallow far out at sea before drifting ashore. #Whale watching guides from #Dalvík had given the animal its name.
