Only started listening this season but really enjoying the show guys. For players that went from striker to midfield (or visa versa), I think Scholes is a good shout. Definitely played more of a second striker earlier in career before becoming a deep lying playmaker.

I guess it might be in his interests from a financial perspective if he can’t get a similar contract elsewhere. Wonder if it’s posturing for a payoff from United in the summer…

It’s likely going to take 2 years (at best) to turn things and start acting like a proper big team again. Even then that would require us to have a really good hit rate on any incoming signings. Time to strap in and try to be as patient as possible. It’s gonna be tough.

The next few months are going to be rough & unless we manage to pull ourselves together to win the EL, it’s going to be the worst season we’ve had in decades. But I’d rather we planned and bought wisely in the summer than panicked and bought stupidly now.

Glad we got a LWB - absolutely needed after a couple of years unbelievably ignoring it. Would be nice if there was a ST out there but what realistic options were there? If rumours are true of United turning down Bayern’s request for a sizeable loan fee for Tel, then that’s a good sign.

I think the fact it’s so late in the window hints that his preference would’ve been abroad. Just not many options with the finances involved. Hope it works out for him.

We have to put everything all into EL to qualify for the CL. We’re obviously not ready but from a financial pov and to give us room to rebuild the squad, it would really, really help. So I think another attacking option is a must.

Important we are more careful now with any incomings, even if just loans. We don’t want any more ridiculous loan fees like with Amrabat but looks like Tel might be an option.

If Quenda comes, presumably to play RWB, then either Amad plays more as a 10 or Dalot to change position?

I know England have a tendency to push midfielders into attacking positions rather than moulding deeper playmakers to control the play. But in this instance it does feel like playing as a 10 lets Mainoo shine at the bits he’s excellent at.

Sounds like they’d fit right in in the PL then…

Tend to agree. Looks like he’ll be staying now. Gotta learn from this in terms of new recruitment so it doesn’t get to this stage.

Feels like he needs some time out of the starting XI so we don’t completely ruin his confidence. But we just don’t have the option to do that right now. I worry for what state he’ll be in come the summer…

He’s so good on the ball but looks off it defensively after the injury. Maybe having a real strong physical LWB helps with that.

We’re definitely more solid on the whole since Amorim came in but feels like at the expense of any attacking nous. Hard to know without proper wing backs what this will look like long term.

Yeah agree. Hopefully get him a few more starts next few months and aim for him starting next season. Not sure Martinez is long term starter either anymore (take his goal tonight though!)

I’d def like to see Mainoo have a go further forward but I’m not a fan of De Ligt or Maguire in the wide CB role. Think you’d need someone a bit more mobile there.
