And of course we’re in Boston, an amazing cosmopolitan city (you’re likely familiar with it!). And we’re on a beautiful campus that’s abutted by two T lines and has easy parking, plus D-1 sports and a great arts scene. 7/x

And the econ PoP role is especially great, as we’re paid like tenure-track faculty and not looked at like second-class citizens. We are actively involved in the life of the department: thesis advising, academic advising, undergrad research supervision, etc. 6/x

BC is a great place to be a PoP, as most other departments have similar positions, so it’s easy to find like-minded collaborators and friends for team teaching (like our core renewal classes), guest lectures, pursuing research ideas, or just socializing. 5/x

If you’re not familiar with the idea of a Professor of the Practice, it’s a non-tenured, contract position (most likely for 3 years at a time), but the assumption is that you’ll be renewed and get to stay with us for the long haul – if we do our hiring well, anyway! 4/x
