They wouldn’t issue us full refunds even though there was someone else in the room when we arrived… security worries meant not a good night’s sleep but “it doesnt come under the guarantee”.

Just awful… However, you are lucky there was no one already in your room! That has happened to us on two occasions- yet Premier Inn does not consider this lack of security comes under their good night sleep guarantee so will not issue full refunds… we have always used them, but no more..

I havent been to Goodison for a long while but it was a big part of my childhood, so many memories of watching matches with my dad. It is so very moving to read your memories and moments. And yes, the @lexytopping.bsky.social is wonderful.
