Wonderful afternoon to lead a walking tour of Bloomsbury with @adamchapman.bsky.social as part of #HAP25. Great to talk about how @vchlondon.bsky.social approaches to the built environment can use urban landscapes as archive.

Fantastic conference thinking about #naturalhistory collections & how they could be (re)engaged with from multiple perspectives. Also great to go inside the @linneansociety.bsky.social for the first time!

Looking forward to a day at the @linneansociety.bsky.social hearing all about the histories of #naturalhistory & natural history collections as part of ongoing @vchlondon.bsky.social work to explore the natural history content in our early 20th C vol. 1s.

Delighted to have been invited to contribute a chapter to the NEW Handbook of #Geographies of #Religion ed. by Lily Kong, Orlando Woods & Justin K.H Tse link.springer.com/referencewor... A mammoth touch-stone volume, as the editors argue it marks the ‘end of the beginning’ of the subfield.

Always a treat to talk to Peter Forsaith about our mutual interest in the 19th C artist & Methodist James Smetham. Particularly interesting to focus on his long forgotten painting Women of the Crucifixion today in preparation for a co-authored article artuk.org/discover/art...

This @chppc.bsky.social & Oxford Heritage Partnership event about archival research in the heritage sector was brilliant. Many thought provoking reflections on how archival research can be used to inform interpretation, commercial decision making & public engagement. Recording coming soon.

Wonderful morning at Wiltshire & Swindon #History Centre talking about how to research & read building history from 1660-today. Thank you John Chandler from @wiltshistory.bsky.social for the invite.

It’s always a pleasure to spend time with the @ihr.bsky.social MA History, Place & Community students. Yesterday’s trip to Ealing was a great way to explore historic places, how to ‘read’ the historic environment, how it is & isn’t valued, & ways in which it can be communicated.
