That’s crazy - I actually DID get one of her reviews back in 2012! It was phrased so interestingly lol. Deeply appreciated but quite strange.

This one-star below is my favorite, though, because it broke me free of worrying about bad reviews. I mean… WTF.

Conservative parents, you’re the ones who made your kids vulnerable.

YOU taught them to believe uncritically.

If you want them safe, teach them question.

And if questioning drives them away from what you believe, then there is a REASON for that, and you’re not going to like it.

You’re the ones who made your children vulnerable. YOU. YOU taught them to accept anything they’re taught uncritically. YOU taught them to never think. To never analyze. To have no discernment. If “gay people exist” means your kid turns gay simply by exposure, YOU did that to your kid. You will never have a world where nothing you dislike comes their way. If you want them safe, teach them to think. Teach them to question. And if you fear thinking and questioning will drive them further from what you believe, then there is a REASON for that, and you’re not going to like it.

SYNONYMS? Yes. They are. When you hear someone saying empathy is bad, understand they are saying compassion, understanding, and kindness are bad, too.

This is so funny. I have yet ANOTHER li'l romance coming (queer dragon human love yay) before Solomon's Choice, which is hard, heavy, and quite dark.

Unedited writing from the upcoming novella, Floriography, by Ruthanne Reid. It say: "It was a normal house, if just a pinch larger in proportion. The eight-foot-tall door opened to a living room with invitingly mismatched armchairs, each big enough for three people, surrounding a coffee table. Beyond it was a small dining room with seats for four. A kitchen peeked to the left, bright and cheery yellow with patterns in the linoleum. The floor was ordinary wood with colorful throw-rugs. Sarah scoffed at herself. “What is it?” said Diana. “I sort of expected it to be made of gold, or something,” said Sarah, in shock at her boldness, and waved her hand. Diana laughed. “That would be nice, if impractical. Do you like cookies? I should ask if you have any allergies.” “None for me, but Noah is allergic to shellfish.” “No shellfish cookies, then,” said Diana, deadpan. “Are snickerdoodles acceptable?” Don’t say it, thought Sarah, imagining rotating grandmaternal bones, and then blurted it anyway. “It’s all so normal?” Diana laughed again, and her cheeks went pink, making her freckles stand out, making her eyes..."
