A handful of the beautiful cards from QUARTETnary. The bright colours (purple, blue, brown, yellow, green) correspond to the geological periods and show events happening at that time Nothing like opening a new board game! This is the box for QUARTETnary, with the geological timescale from the insert and four blue Jurassic cards laid out - breakup of Pangea, formation of the Andes, Dinosaurs and Birds A couple of my favourite cards. The brown Paleogene card shows the formation of the Himalaya and the green Cretaceous shows a cute lil Triceratops

After a good sort-out, I am reacquainted with some fabulous rocks from my mapping project 😍

From the Chenaillet ophiolite, Montgenèvre, in the Franco–Italian Alps
Maroon-red radiolarite, with some beautiful folding Foliated gabbro, with lovely wings on the amphiboles Rock folded as though it were paper! Into a perfect 's' ... or '~', depending on how you look at it Lime-green serpentinite - a relic of the peridotite mantle, now found at the top of a mountain
