To all my friends and everyone who celebrates Hanukkah, may it be the best festival of lights full of warm words, festive food, joyous jocularity, lovable lazy moments and many precious moments to hold dear.

Quotes like this make me add the book title to my list of books to read. Not that I always get there or that the book is worth it, but they sure intrigue me. What is one quote you have written down recently or one you want to memorize?

Things aren't always as we expect them to be, as in writing, where authors take an unexpected turn with their characters or actions. As a general rule, in a memoir, we expect and want the transformation of the main character.

Quilts are a passion I refuse to indulge in, as one more passion might make me implode. Now braiding and patching memoirs together, the inherent structure of them, that thrills me. Memoirs are transition-rich, heavy with the hidden, "Because of that, then this happens...

In fact, things rarely are urgent. Our next breath is urgent. I recently met a woman who spent a whole year hyperventilating and needing to force a yawn to draw in more oxygen. Breathe, my friends, breathe. And... go write. That calms our parasympathetic nervous system, too.

If you make sure I have your mailing address, I just might pop a letter in the mail. I do like writing letters.

That space is still going strong. Nancy attended STAY-Treats in the single digits in 2020. I will be offering STAY-Treats #28, 29 and 30. An online writing retreat, six hours on Saturday and Sunday, with a special guest speaker on Saturday mornings. Watch here for details.

There are many options to join or find or form a writing haven. My groups are one choice. I'll have three to four spots open up in next year's membership. If you want to know how to find or form your own group, let's chat. I have tons of ideas for you. What are you waiting for?

If you've ever wondered about the services of a ghostwriter, DM me for a free resource article on what you can expect from a ghostwriter, how the arrangement works and what you are responsible for in the creation and production.

Another way of saying, "Is anyone ever really happy to have a memoirist in the family?" If we write with grace and space and paint ourselves honestly and show our transformation to the highest version of ourselves, that is the healing route and the highest ground.

“Nobody, But Nobody, Is Going To Stop Breathing On Me!” Virginia Apgar is known as the first woman to become a full professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. I shall adopt this metaphor & search out the writers who most need to borrow my belief in them.

Are you ready to claim the spotlight for yourself? Do you have a book inside you clamouring to find its way in the world? There never is a better time to start than right now.

This makes perfect sense. Who among us is brave & kind with feedback when it is deserved or essential for someone's growth? The godparent of my son once told me that it was time for me to grow up. She was kind & harsh simultaneously. I wasn't instantly grateful, but I grew up.

Apple pie, in moderation, might be more than okay, but in abundance, that might lead to stethoscopes and prodding. Choose the apple sometimes, maintain our health so we can create, thrive and live our best lives. Wisdom, Strength, Intelligence, Art all depend on our health.

No danger to you to fulfill your curiosity. What kinds of things have you always wondered about, from the workings of the universe to family dynamics or skeletons in the closet? Great topics to write about. You never know where the page might take you...

My fervent wish for you, my friends to the south, is that there will be peace, joy and gratitude in your hearts on this day and all days forward. Gratitude might not change the world in a flash, though it can sure go a long way to carry us through dark times.

Gratitude does so many positive things, and I can't remember them all. It raises immunity, increases our manifesting abilities, lowers blood pressure (I think) and can turn a bad mood around in a few seconds.

Writing alone? Any act of creation can be a solitary venture, and if that suits you and you can keep going with joy and enthusiasm, wonderful! If you feel worn down by your art, it's time to find the support of like-minded people who can lift you up and be lifted themselves.

This served as a good reminder to save the little bits, much like my mom saved little bits of flavour and leftovers in a soup jar. My son ate her soups daily on school lunch breaks. They made a brand-new award for him because he had perfect attendance throughout high school.

I adore thinking of stories making up our world. We are a storytelling species. What stories are you busting to tell, or which stories do you tell, and then someone or several someones tell you that you must write a book? Have you considered it?

True, but rocking is possibly soothing, meditative, relaxing, & serves as a key to enjoying moments of nothing but a gentle swaying back & forth with minimal effort. How many of us can benefit from that soothing motion of being rocked like a baby once again by our own power?

Annie was one of the early attendees for my weekend STAY-Treats. How far we've come now. There still is a Writers' Lounge this year on December 13th, where you too can feel the camaraderie and the supportive vibe. If you're curious about writing, or trying out a lounge, DM me.
