Does it ever seem like the light at the end of the tunnel is an old-timey hobo with a lantern on one of those old-timey hand carts, squeaking up and down as he passes you laughing hysterically?

I have not wanted Texas A&M to win anything since 1998.

I am even cheering on Missouri today.

Pretty sure my just-today 1 year old thinks she is reading this Eric Carle book to me.

My answer to the question on @esaumccaulley.bsky.social ‘s most recent episode is Bleach and/or the lead singer Davey Baysinger.

Not an expert on SCOTUS, yet I propose the sketch of a constitutional amendment to change SCOTUS.

9 justices appointed by prez for 20 yr terms (They don’t get to vote first two years), rolling appointments every odd year on March 31st. Start rotating serving justices off by yrs of service.

10 y/o - Dad, can we get the Mandalorian on DVD so I can rip it to my iPod? I saw it on Amazon.

Me - *looks* those are all
pirated not legal, I’m not buying pirate DVDs from Amazon.

10 y/o - since you can just pirate it yourself?

Me - I meant on general moral principles, really.

My 10 year old is very excited that I got the Cartoon Network Clone Wars microseries ripped from DVD so he can watch it on his iPod Nano, and I feel like 2005’s coolest dad.

I think many Americans don’t realize the shaky, hidden nature of the American political coalition system because of the duopoly of the parties. But study this article a bit more closely and carefully, realizing that as much as a certain CEO donated millions…

My ten year old wanted to make dinner tonight and I only had to save one burn and one ruined dish. I think he did ok.

How is it I can walk for an hour on the treadmill, record a workout on my Apple Watch, and get no minutes of exercise, but changing the 7 month old’s diaper gives me 3 minutes of exercise???

My 10 y/o weirdly had trouble sleeping last night, and came over saying, “there is some kind of motor buzzing or ringing in our room, like a toothbrush. Can you stop it?”

Reader, it was his little brother breathing. They’ve shared a room for 2 years, and he hasn’t been awake to hear the breathing.

My 10 year old just came and asked if he could have another piece of Easter candy. We’ve trained him well.

I would have taken as much candy as I wanted, hid the wrappers in my pockets and then thrown them in the garage trash can so no one would know I had done it.

Finally got around to reading the AI2027 on @ericwendt.com’s suggestion. Have to say - these guys seem to have never worked outside AI. Car factories just quickly retooling to rebuild robots? Feels highly unlikely and fundamentally misunderstanding the supply chain.

Disgraceful. They are in our country because we brought them here because you couldn’t get your first term in gear, and now you are just terminating the TPS because you think the country is safe?

Trying to convince my ten year old that the only way he and his group of neighborhood friends take a game off of an NBA team in a million tries is 15 non-contact ACL tears and he thinks if I play with them there is a chance….

Reached old man young dad stage where when I call my parents and ask what they’ve been doing, they tell me three people who died, while my 5 month old is trying to latch onto the screw in my patched-up collarbone, and my 10-year old is interrupting to tell them about playing DnD with his friends.

@gruber.foo is your support post about L.B.? I was just thinking the other week about how I don’t think there is any other gesture that has been universally adopted since pull-to-refresh, and wondered where he went…

Read The Mythmakers by @johnhendrix.bsky.social in one go this afternoon while helping the 4mo nap. Great book. Knew far less about Lewis than JRR, so fascinatingly told, especially in how they paralleled each other.

And the ending conversation between them was brilliantly touching.

Bravo!

My older son plays basketball in a church league (not our church) and when I was walking the halls of the kids section to get to the game, I noted all the friendly looking town mural all over their walls - cars, firestation, cafe, arcade, sports scenes, A-10 Warthog with clearly rendered Gatling…

Jean Stothert’s campaign called and push-polled my wife last week, and have called me almost every night this week. Answering them in Dari results in hang ups.

We need an amendment to the NE constitution that restricts political spending on state and local races.
