It has since been boringly and safely replaced with 14 traffic lights and 17 lanes added to routes 46 and 10. I’m sure many auto body shops in the area went out of business when it closed.

This made the Ledgewood Circle a bit more sporting. The circle, of course, was basically an all-you-can-eat bar of left-hand turns.

I do miss the old circle which used to back up for miles filling Succasunna with leaded gas fumes. You say not since 1970’s but we knew how to get the good stuff.

Which also leads me to fondly recall my Mazda 323 with the dual quirks of:

1. Not shutting off when you took the key out. It actually had a kill switch.

2. Shutting off while you were driving if you took a left turn too fast with less than 1/4 tank of gas.
