No, I'm sorry, Shapez 2 was pretty fun but I have to go redesign my bioflux sub factory on Gleba for a twelfth time.

You should just drink the hot water. I hear it's really good.

I believe Vince Gilligan and his writers threw in the name Lalo as a potential hook for a villain but didn't flesh out any details or backstory until working on BCS. He has his own character page on Wikipedia, and this is briefly mentioned. They also name-dropped Nacho in the same BB episode.

Life is complicated but all is ultimately well, thanks for asking. :)

That's a neat coincidence. I just finished my Asylum replay today and started on City, so I'll be playing along with you soon.

RIP Kevin Conroy, the best of all Batmen. :(

Unlike you, I get my news from a reliable source.

I once got in a small edit war over the page of a professor who had been investigated and fired for inappropriate behavior with a student. The person who kept editing the page turned out to be his wife using a second account.

Just curious, have you played or reviewed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle? I'm sure loving it.

I intend to forget that it exists again as soon as I stop looking at this post.

Since the election I've had a hard time appreciating political takes as I used to, but I are up your new post. It may be long, but I appreciate how much it weaves together and clarifies so many different trends from the last year (or decade, or lifetime, since we're about the same age).

11/ Oh yeah, one more thing, maybe it goes without saying: Fuck Trump.

10/ Anyway, human interaction is still important, and much of it is online these days. So I'd like to be more visible and available in posting, and I'll make an effort to say things occasionally. But I'm just saying, it IS an effort.

9/ It's been documented how social media interaction is more nasty and aggressive than real-life interaction, and also more than it used to be. That's by design, since algorithms promote "engagement" over friendly discussion. Not exactly as intended, but emergent behavior and all that.
November 26, 2024 at 3:15 PM
8/ There is also another kind of friction to posting, which is that crowd reactions have gotten a lot more unpleasant. Now when I see a post I like on Twitter, I don't want to look at the comments. Pre-musk, usually there would be thoughtful discussion. Now it's a flood of blue checks trash talking.

7/ Anyway, I'm not saying these restrictions are a burden, I get why they exist. I'm just saying they provide a little bit of friction when I'm thinking about posting something, and maybe my desire to engage with strangers is not high enough to overcome the friction, so then I just don't post much.

6/ Similarly if I say something that sounds like it might be "official Blizzard news," I should mention that I don't represent the company. I'm an engineer for a game company. I'm not on their media team, I'm not authorized to announce anything, etc.
November 26, 2024 at 3:15 PM
5/ For example, if I talk about video games, I have to mention somewhere who I work for. It's a good rule because there shouldn't be accounts that trash other games, but are sneakily negative PR to help the company.
November 26, 2024 at 3:15 PM
4/ Anyway, a couple of reasons why I lost enthusiasm for posting. One is, being happily employed at a big company like Blizzard adds minor hurdles. They don't tell me NOT to post things, but I have been through a few rounds of training where there's many guidelines to be cautious.

3/ I was telling a coworker recently, back when I hosted The Atheist Experience and a few other shows, I was VERY active on various platforms. Mainly blogging and Facebook. I did Twitter also, but it never fully clicked for me because when I write, I go long.

2/ If you used to follow me and want to read something recent where I dumped a bunch of thoughts about a specific topic, I invite you to read my recent post on how a flood of "AI" is wrecking the internet. onlys.ky/how-ai-wreck... (Please disregard the ugly AI-generated picture, I did not pick it.)
