That’s what this is: we have wasted a decade on these people’s ego trip, for almost no concrete benefit. It’s a fucking disaster! There’s no comfort here except for knowing they too are miserable about it, which is not much comfort at all.

It’s like austerity and Brexit being disastrous, or like how the Iraq War blowing up in our leaders’ faces did at least expose them for who they actually were. But these were also totally unnecessary calamities, and the latter was absolutely horrifying.

It is grimly gratifying to see Mandelson/McSweeney exposed for what they are, but: I have to live here, I have to raise a family here. These idiots fucking it into the sun is very funny but it’s not *good news*, is it? It shows us how utterly boned we are, and it’s not going to get better now.

I’m exactly the type of person he’s talking about and all there is in this situation is minor satisfaction at seeing people who behaved horrifically getting some small measure of justice. We have burned ten years to disaster, just because these clowns refused to accept nobody likes or wants them.

Does this - secret all-channels, poisonous hate campaigns against colleagues, with the full and enthusiastic cooperation of the national press - sound at all familiar

Says that Mandelson relentlessly undermined Mo Mowlam because he wanted her job and over months - presumably hand-in-hand with willing and complicit media outlets - he hounded her out of her post, and took it for himself.
