A watercolor of the Buff-breasted Sandpiper for my birding buddy. This bird paused at East Halton, Lincs back in May and was much wanted lifer and was worked up from my field sketches. Cheers #BirdArt

Field sketches of a Curlew at Old Moor RSPB a few days ago, with colour added later. Not seen many autumn birds here so it was nice to study this one in the morning sunshine. Cheers #WorldShorebirdsDay #BirdArt #Birding

Field studies of one of three White-rumped Sandpipers reported at Spurn last week. A British tick for me and the first I've seen in over 20 years. Difficulty to get any real details due to the hot and hazy conditions but the key features clinched. #BirdArt #Birding

Pied Wagtail and Common Sandpiper studies from RSPB Old Moor recently. I rarely sketch passerines but several were buzzing about and occasionally perched up for me to nail a sketch. Cheers #Birds #BirdArt

Recent Lapwing studies from RSPB Old Moor. My favourite time of year to really get to grips with these is in the autumn when they spend a lot of time resting and preening on Wath Ings. With little else to engage at it was a case of 'making do'. 😊

A couple of sketchbook pages from SE Turkey. Turkestan Short-toed Lark, a juv. Wheatear I'm not currently sure about and a much more convincing White-throated Robin - a brief encounter at Nemrut Dagi. #Birds #Birding #BirdArt

Top birds from over 2000 meters in Turkey recently. Caspian Snowcock stole the show, plus Snowfinch and Radde's Accentor were ticks. The first Rufous-tailed Rock Thrush I've seen in years, too. Cheers. #Birds #BirdArt

A few more sketches from SE Turkey. Upcher's Warblers were surprisingly easy to see and were proper posers! My first Cinereous Bunting for 20 years in the same habitat. Roller and Iraq Babbler at Birecik - the latter one of six lifers. Cheers

Kurdish Wheatear sketches from a recent trip to SE Turkey. Good to catch up with this range-restricted WP bird. Only need that one stuck in the middle of Syria now! 🤔 #Birding #BirdArt #Birds Cheers

Up in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland for a few days and did that rarest of things last night: a seawatch! A steady stream of Manxies going north here at Eyemouth were the undoubted highlight. Not seen them for years. Lovely. #Birding
