Gwhar goes through the Erasure ritual in which is great uncles Guardian is assigned to him and he takes his first ever steps into the first zone, The Hall, with nothing but the promise that his Guardian will speak to him and show him the way.

Deep Chirper are a special kind of keeper, they go deep within the zones to identify and sooth what may be ailing the One in the center. They are part oracle, part solider, part clergy.

The day has finally come when Gwhar a young boy from a long line of Chirpers is finally given his Guradian. He assumes his great uncles Guardian and his position of Deep Chirper.
