My 97 y/o mother cannot get a Real ID because the first name on her birth certificate is spelled differently from the spelling her parents used for her name after she came home from the hospital. She has used that spelling ever since, for passports, regular drivers license, marriage license, etc.

paying a dear and painful price for it all.
