Landing in NYC for #ProtocolsForPublishers. We have a pretty awesome group of folks coming together to work on keeping the future of the internet open! #PfP

When your personal computer is intelligent, it's good to know whose side it's on.

From The Information today. We'll be seeing a lot more of this locking down of data.

App-makers are reacting to the threat of a new, intelligent software environment in which apps aren't as important. It's not just the context wars, it's the app vs. environment wars.

Thinking about my position that AI in creativity is just a tool, not a replacement for an artist.

I'm not as optimistic about that as I used to be.

(No final thoughts here yet, just initial reactions to an interview with Rick Rubin.)

Want to amplify the "Malleable software" paper from Ink & Switch – this is an important step in defining much more flexible & natural paradigm for human-computer interaction

This little web command client can now take actions using Web Applets & the Unternet kernel

love how it can reads the map pin data to recommend me a vegetarian spot (can't do that with the DOM or a vision model)

Fun experiment today making a command line for the web, based on Unternet's kernel

It's cool that the LLMs know enough about URL structure to hallucinate stuff that works!

(It's just guessing based on what it knows about how GitHub's paths work – it's actually kinda handy)

Hallo Deutschland! Looking forward to a week of local first #localfirstconf

Nailed it, @komorama.bsky.social

We have a huge opportunity here – there's no reason the future user interface for *all your computing* needs to be tied to OpenAI. We can build a new, uniquely personal computer that you own, without your entire digital life being locked to one company or provider.

Cool demo from Kosmik showing this idea of "unbundling the browser/internet" that inspired Unternet's name – a search engine that extracts content directly, instead of giving you a bunch of links

Our client can now use web applets!

This has been a big missing piece since we set out to create this client from scratch in January. You can now add an applet from our directory, with just a URL, and interact with entire apps on the web — all driven by your LLM of choice, locally on your machine

Our open-source cognitive kernel is powering our intelligent workspace for the web — routing user input → action execution → output. Now with local file support: drop in a map image and it reads it & gets a weather forecast.

what is a browser

working on the guts of our kernel, re-introduced a much more flexible action-calling ability that allows arbitrary protocols (meaning we can expand to MCP, shell commands, local file operations, etc.)

We just released Web Applets 0.2!

It allows you to make client-side web apps that can be used by any LLM (it's an open protocol).

For example this 3D scene generator (made in 20 LOC)
