I visited Thornbury in Gloucestershire this evening, it's very nice!

What a weekend that was! There are a lot of photos, so here's a taster.

I spent a weekend in Pembrokeshire with friends for an early Christmas get-together. We also spent some time in Fishguard, Haverfordwest and St David's exploring the area.

I did a parkrun!

A photo of me from last weekend's November Meeting at Cheltenham Racecourse, standing out from the crowd in the Oxford Electro bus!

Over in Cheltenham, I've just used the recently revised 10 bus. It now provides better connections to the shops and restaurants on Bath Road, which makes perfect sense.

Unfortunately, the service is still not reliable with buses regularly running in pairs. Roadworks are the main cause of this.

Lots of these cameras have popped up in Oxford.

Day 2 of the 3/3A buses serving Oxford station, and there are now DEFINITELY too many buses here.

There isn't room on their bus stop, so they fill up everywhere else instead. 🙄

People will stop going to Oxford because of the congestion charge, they told us? 🤔

What is it with Charlbury and bad parking? 🤔

Finally, the police have on display a car involved in a fatal accident caused by speeding and drug use.

There's also a chance to sit inside an HGV and learn about the blind spots on the vehicle.

Vision Zero has taken over Broad Street today, offering people the chance to have their bike registered and learn about road safety.

Whizzing into Oxford on the 800, which is a route I completely forgot goes around the ring road!

Microlino!

Don't get me wrong, I have no objection to displays for remembrance for those who fought for our freedom.

However, doing this instead of showing route information is not the way to do it. It confuses passengers who can't tell what bus is approaching them.

Bus companies, please don't do this. ❌️

I'm in that part of the country where bus routes are decimalised.

Today, I visited the National Railway Museum, my first visit since the Station Hall reopened after refurbishment.

This time a week ago, there was a mile long queue for the Westgate, which passed through Frideswide Square and up Hythe Bridge Street.

Today, the roads are empty. #oxfordcongestioncharge
November 1, 2025 at 2:43 PM
I also had a look in Oxpens Car Park, which had empty spaces.
November 1, 2025 at 11:59 AM
Just before midday on a Saturday and the queue for the Westgate is... nonexistent.

I don't want to come to conclusions too early, but I hope this is a sign that the congestion charge is actually working.
November 1, 2025 at 11:59 AM
I thought they said the congestion charge would put people off going to Oxford and kill off the high street? 🤔
October 31, 2025 at 12:40 PM
I went to Didcot for a bit and saw a few trains.

I'm just about to go and spend a substantial amount of money on two new tyres (always change tyres in pairs) because of a slow puncture.

It's been failing to retain pressure since Sunday when, coincidentally, it was in the station car park at Beaulieu Park which was littered with screws.
October 29, 2025 at 11:33 AM
What's this, another new station?

It's Beaulieu Park on the Great Eastern Main Line! The first train this morning was the 07:20 to London, formed of a Class 720.
