Only if the BBC could muster up enough bananas.

I've been watching cycling since 1969.
At a slight tangent, it interests me how the BBC always concentrates on negative aspects of our sport. They made a fuss about Tom being 'defeated' at Giro dell'Emilia this week - more fuss than they make when he wins!

I'm sitting here this evening, having just watched the sickening sight of that cunt Netanyahu still issuing threats. I hate those bastards so much.

The thing is that young athletes like Gee live in their own world - a cocoon - I mean that in a good way. We can't curse them for that innocence.

I don't really understand the politics / etiquette of Matt Brennan having to play second fiddle to Olav Kooij.
I've been watching cycling since 1969, so I get it on one level - but surely in his home country, Visma should just let Matt do his thing.
Beating Milan twice last week was VERY impressive!

Dedham Vale is Constable country Jez!

Mason is a weasel, and a weasel of the worst kind - he's a highly paid shill.

Naturally the Israeli government and the IDF just lie about it.

Spot on... 👍👍

I really enjoyed your Domestique piece about nicknames.
There are lots from the past of course.

I'm so blooming old I remember the Eagle of Toledo.
Aged about 10, I made quite an impression on the waiters in our holiday hotel in San Feliu.
"Who is this little English kid who follows Bahamontes?"

I adore Tintin!

My Huguenot ancestors... their name?

Fleury.

From that background, at least he didn't become another entitled Tory prick.
July 8, 2025 at 11:17 AM
Believe it or not, I've only just watched it - past midnight.
You're right, what a great ride - and it's been on the cards for quite some time!
Tomorrow (today) I'm going to watch the Giro before I switch to the Tour. I'm a bit miffed I didn't see it live.
July 8, 2025 at 1:26 AM
At present, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Every single news item on the BBC, in the Mail, the Telegraph etc etc - a constant barrage of criticism.
There are posters on X who regularly list the good things they've achieved.
But the usual culprits obsess over the negatives.

I freaked out that day for two reasons:
1) I used to live 150 yards from where the bus was blown up
2) An ex gf worked at the British Library at the time and travelled in each day from South London

Do they do indigestion tablets for alligators?
July 7, 2025 at 10:59 AM
Laying low Rob?

I notice that @cyclingontnt on X have also gone to ground today. Not surprised really, they were being absolutely mauled yesterday and again this morning.

TNT Sport needs to be seen to do the right thing here.
This anger isn't going to go away.
July 6, 2025 at 2:20 PM
I'm watching the Tour on ITV4 HD today.
Obviously I have a TNT Sport sub, but this way I'm not being reminded every 15 minutes that I've been lied to.
July 6, 2025 at 2:13 PM
"Will be a pleasure to have your company from 12 midday tomorrow on TNT Sports"

Sadly the pleasure is all yours Rob.
Like thousands of other viewers, I was more than upset to find the coverage repeatedly interrupted by adverts.

This is a disgraceful betrayal of the promises made last year.
July 6, 2025 at 1:34 AM
I think it's quite some betrayal on the part of TNT Sport.
When they increased the sub more than 400% last year, we were reassured that the coverage would be just like Discovery Plus and GCN etc.

Even now they're promoting their coverage as "every minute of the 2025 Tour de France live"
July 5, 2025 at 11:36 PM
Brian, are you aware that TNT Sports coverage of the Tour today had adverts all the way through? No ad-free stream was available.
