I try not to buy from Amazon (key word: try! Lol) and cereal goes too fast in my house so we try not to get it too often unless there's a good deal. Shopping mostly at grocery outlet has skewed my view on prices, so I think everything is too expensive 😂

Based on your responses to people last night, if you're on SNAP you should just have to make everything from scratch; but if you're not on snap and can afford the high prices, then go ahead and buy premade food. No healthy premade food for poor people, just the well off 🙄

And, and I stated in my previous comment, that's assuming people have the TIME to make everything from scratch while working to try to provide for their families.

Kinda telling you think only people who aren't working are homeless. There are plenty of people who work hard and can't afford housing. Your experience isn't everyone's, and your prejudices show your privilege, just like mine and everyone else's do.

Nice assumptions you're making about everyone in your responses. You're assuming people have the time or space to cook, I saw a comment from someone else that the people they know on SNAP don't have access to a kitchen. its difficult to cook and bake and save food when you have nowhere to do so.

None because I'm apparently looking at prices at the wrong stores 😂 I usually get the mother's choice at grocery outlet for $1.99, but not that often. The stuff my kids ask for is usually $5.99 on sale (6.99-7.99 not on sale) when they ask. It's my small town market I've seen 12 oz boxes for 8.99+

I was using the sugary cereal as an example since I've seen reels places showing the as a supposed "typical shopping cart" of snap recipients, I buy the healthiest inexpensive cereal I can when we do get any (typically the om Grocery Outlet and I think $1.99 is too expensive 😂) 2/2

I actually rarely buy cereal for that reason, and we love oatmeal! It's one of the foods that had a lot of pesticide uptake in the non-organic versions so I've cut back on buying it since then. (There was an article on the Guardian, I believe, I think within the last year talking about that.) 1/2

My mom taught me that stuff because she learned it in home ec and the best I got was an economics class that I joked had a workbook aimed for elementary school kids when I was in HS. I'm planning to teach my kids the same since they're important life skills!

I forgot about Aldi, there's one about an hour away (near a Walmart we shop at sometimes, and there's a dollar general on the way!) I'm not a fan of shopping either, that's nice you get some help with it! I keep trying to pass it off to others but it doesn't work lol

We've noticed bananas my parents pass on to us from Costco (they only eat a few before they go bad) frequently go from green to banana bread quality, skipping over ripe 🤷‍♀️

All things I already do! I love grocery outlet, that's where I do most of my shopping, and fill in the gaps at Walmart (who I'd rather avoid but they're inexpensive) and our local grocery store. Oh and I used to shop at WinCo more and keep meaning to go back there for bulk items, especially 😊

Well there's no tank so it obviously can't attack people they don't like. Therefore - horrifying!

That's what I was thinking, but in my state you can't use SNAP to buy hot food (I'm not sure if that's a federal guideline or a state one). You can use an EBT card to use cash aid to buy certain hot food at certain places here, though
November 2, 2025 at 3:58 AM
They're a couple dollars at our Walmarts around here (that I've seen), that's why I was wondering 😊
November 2, 2025 at 3:56 AM
I always wonder where this $1 pizza is and the cheaper super sugary cereal (which is $6-10/small box depending where I shop)
November 2, 2025 at 3:28 AM
And then those who have people in the household with food allergies are just SOL, because pizza my kids can eat is $8 on average. The beginning of the month- looks like splurging; End of the month- no money, so the anti-snap crowd should be happy bc we can't buy food with no money 🤑🙃
