Hi, I’m Tom Goom (AKA ‘running-physio’). I help physiotherapists and other health professionals successfully treat injured runners with evidence-based resources like this 👇 #runninginjury
Posterior knee pain differential diagnosis.

I’ve focused on the more common injuries but it’s worth noting that bone stress injuries (such as tibial stress fractures) and bone tumours can also cause posterior knee pain, although they are more rare.

Ranking exercise parameters for Achilles Tedninopathy (AT) 🥇🥈🥉

Does marathon running increase arthritis risk? A recent study of 3,804 runners would suggest not!

There are limitations; arthritis prevalence was determined by asking runners if they'd been diagnosed with it by a doctor. See full paper for details DOI: 10.1177/19417381231190876

Choose your words with care!

Check their understanding too - one study found that some patients thought a knee ‘effusion’ meant the joint was fused together! 🤯

I teamed up with @Liz_Bayley_Physio to create this progressive rehab programme for Plantar Heel Pain.

We've called it 'LiTHE' (Liz and Tom's Heel Exercises) and it's aimed at active and sporty patients. It's not a recipe though so it's best to adapt it to suit individual needs.

The Endurance Performance Pyramid.

Start with a strong base of consistently, recovery and fuelling and then progress up the pyramid by building volume then adding intensity and S&C.

Consult a Running Coach for a plan to achieve your goals 🥇
