A game that was already sold as a "definitive edition" getting a 25 buck DLC that you get "free" access to with a paid subscription of 30 bucks more than the regular online subscription service.

Back then it was at least a little justified defense response because at the time, DmC was marketed as setting the new standard for the franchise going forward and that we may never again see the mainline return. But this isn't even canon to the main timeline and is not replacing it in any way.

Oh, you're absolutely correct that we have seen this divide before. I'm more referring that calling it the "same song and dance" is a little ingenuine as they are far from being similar in terms of content itself, but I do agree the response seems to be the same as back then. Which is just silly.

Because while DmC by itself was a pretty good hack'n'slash, the fact it carried the Devil May Cry name and those aspects were fueled by spite for the core fanbase by the director was it's downfall, whereas the Netflix show embraces it's roots while being it's own take on the franchise.

I will need to see the season 2 in order to give my full opinion of the interpretation as a whole as the first season leaves itself with multiple things that are in need of further elaboration for the story. Whether you're an old fan or a newcomer, the series is a safe bet.
