MC's "Nepal in the Long 1950s" book reviewed by Ramchandra Guha

I learnt a great deal about the emergence of modern Nepal. It also got me thinking of how a similar volume (or series of volumes) could be crafted on what was happening in India in the 1950s.

Sociologist Pranab Kharel is a researcher at Martin Chautari, an NGO that promotes the public sphere in Nepal. The interdisciplinary and border-crossing nature of #AASInAsia2025 sessions meant that Kharel got to check out panels on China and East Asia!

The International Sociological Association (ISA) deeply mourns the tragic passing of Michael Burawoy, a leading sociologist, Professor of Sociology at UC Berkeley, and the 17th President of ISA. Michael was fatally struck in a hit-and-run accident on February 3rd. His loss is immeasurable.
