I don't think any of the mods can claim to be historians or experts on the Joseon dynasty, but a lot of us are familiar with it because of our love of sageuks (historical k-dramas), and the amount of those we have seen, which allows us to piece together a lot of the Joseon culture and history together. So my first instinct would be to point you toward those, like maybe pick a film or a drama that might interest you. But since I know dramas can be long, I'd suggest picking one of these 3 films to get you to have a feel of the era in different time periods: The Throne Set around the 1700s in a later Joseon period than Jinu's. A film about the tragic tale of Crown Prince Sado and King Yeongjo, made famous by the autobiography of Queen Heongyeong (Memoirs of Lady Hyegyŏng), the wife of the crown prince. The film recounts how the crown prince was deemed unfit to rule and, at age 27, was condemned to death by his own father by being locked in a rice chest for 8 days. Masquerade Set in the 1600s, close to the time period Jinu was born. The film depicts a fictional event inspired by 15 days of missing records from King Gwanghae's reign. This sageuk follows the king and the comedian who he has hired as a double for him, named Ha-Seon. The Royal Tailor Set around 1600s-1700s. It is historical fiction and is about the rivalry between 2 tailors who made clothes for the royal family. One of them revolutionizes fashion while the other is more traditional. This film is more lighthearted than the other 2 films and might help give an understanding of what kinds of clothes were worn during the Joseon dynasty as well as the culture of the internal royal court. For a short and sweet 2 episode sageuk that packs a lot of history in, along with time-traveling romance: Splash Splash Love Set around the early 1400s, and before Jinu was born. A short drama about a modern girl who accidentally travels back in time and meets a famous Joseon king, Sejong the Great, also known as the king who invented Hangul, the modern Korean alphabet. Among other great inventions that shaped the dynasty afterward. Other resources: The official website of the South Korean government has a short and sweet rundown on Joseon, linked here. Brittanica has shortened versions of Korean history. Countless videos on YouTube if you search "Joseon dynasty" I hope this helps, anon! I didn't want to dump history on you without it being overwhelming, but I listed resources that will hopefully be the most digestible and enjoyable to consume, especially if you're not someone who particularly likes history.

Just a reminder that this event is not limited to the Joseon era that Jinu is from, but that historical settings in Korea are welcome, such as the Three Kingdoms, Goryeo, occupation, and other more recent historical settings.
