Interestingly, plant defense and senescence-related genes were highly upregulated by CtBOT6 OX infection, partially depending on plant ABA signaling. Under such a condition, CtBOT6 OX fungus can colonize even leaf tissues, where Ct WT cannot invade, to complete life cycle. (7/8)

The transcriptome analysis showed that thousands of fungal genes were upregulated by CtBOT6 OX in liquid media. When we knockout ABA-BOT enzymatic genes in CtBOT6 OX fungi, some gene expressions were cancelled. So ABA-BOT metabolites may affect fungal gene regulation. (6/8)

Surprisingly, CtBOT6 overexpression in endophytic Ct strain makes good guy into hyper-virulent fungi. Moreover, fungal virulence was heightened in CtBOT6 expression dose-dependent manner. What’s happening in fungi and host plant?? (5/8)

Here we found the gene knockout of a transcription factor named CtBOT6 makes Ct3 into beneficial. ABA-BOT gene expressions were disrupted in the mutant. CtBOT6 overexpression increase the production of ABA-BOT-derived compounds, so CtBOT6 positively regulates ABA-BOT. (4/8)
