In Long Beach for a 48 hr trip to see fam. Today, after an 8 mile run on the beach path (glorious!), I treated myself to a breakfast burrito at Ham 'n Scram (bonus points for that logo!). On the 2 mile walk back to the hotel, got hungry & went for a bean & cheese at Sonoratown (THAT TORTILLA!).

My veg garden was not so great this year but I just pulled almost-forgotten carrots out of the ground, cut them up, & roasted them with Magic Unicorn salt & some Burlap & Barrel wild mountain cumin, and while I think the seasonings did the heavy lifting, let's give a hand to these tiny orange babes!

@sampotts.bsky.social offered to make spaghetti and meatballs tonight while I had to be in the office. I gave 3 suggestions: Smitten Kitchen (1 type meat for meatballs), Simply Recipes (beef + hot sausage), and Canal House (beef, pork, veal). Excited to report he chose the Canal House route!

I honestly can't (re)imagine a world where someone wearing an outfit with several available pockets decides "no, where my phone should go is in a pouch attached to a dog leash-adjacent chain around my neck," but hey, you do you.

I've just learned of an IG page called eggchipbeanpint which showcases London caffs (not cafes, IYKYK) with, yes, plates of eggs, chips, & beans. The second photo in each set is of a pint of Guinness. The grid feels like Warhol meets Stephen Shore, with its mundane, perfect repetition.
