20 years ago my group published a paper that identified a target (a kinase) in pancreatic cancer that drove cell proliferation and chemotherapy resistance. We worked with a medicinal chemist who designed a small molecule inhibitor (SMI) to this kinase. In 2018, this SMI went into the clinic. 1/2
