They are the very definition of an unreliable ally under Trump and MAGA. At the same time, a change in the WH in ‘28 wouldn’t meaningfully reduce the risk. It’s in the blood now…

Worth noting also that even the ballots that get "knocked out" aren't instantly incinerated or anything. The AEC holds on to them in case they're required for a legal challenge.

100% - there is nothing even slightly unusual about what either camp is doing or Wilson's messages. Honestly, most of it is probably just the desperate need to do SOMETHING while a process you can no longer influence wraps up.

Scrutineers can question a vote's validity, but ultimately it's the AEC's call. I've also seen ballots where voting intention was ambiguous, but they're pretty rare and usually not material to the result. High Court is the final arbiter on the rare occasion disputed ballots could flip the result.

Yeah, at this stage it would take something pretty dramatic to reverse a 128 vote margin. Certainly sounds like those ballots have all been scrutineered to within an inch of their lives!

Wow! But are there really 8k votes left or is that how many eligible voters are unaccounted for? We're already past 2022's turnout of 92.65% so I'd be surprised if there are that many actual votes left out there.
