Boooo. @amazonprime.bsky.social video is getting as bad as @netflix.com when it comes to giving up on glorious, epic shows. I still mourn @greatdismal.bsky.social 's "The Peripheral" cancelation, in addition to "The Expanse." Well, I guess I'm putting all my eggs & hopes into Apple TV+.

AI newspaper content that's hallucinogenicly bogus = different kind of lazy fueled by generator hubris and publisher greed. #AI is not akin to the calculator because calculators don't occasionally tell you the wrong thing. Authentic, high-quality, organic content is going to need a label. #Organic?

This is... not good. So my 2017 car has front facing cameras for safety, it has a backup camera, and maybe one day a dash camera. Tesla cars are all about the camera, no lidar. So this #Volvo is going to go driving around, blasting away everyone's camera? Let alone the stray urban selfie drive-by...
Volvo EX90's Lidar Sensor Will Fry Your Phone's Camera
Laser beams don't play nice with camera image sensors, and Volvo recommends avoiding close-up photography or using a protective filter if you must snap a pic.

Washington State has a page reflecting significant #layoffs. #Microsoft popped up today, the first since 2023. 2023 looks like a year of suck if you search for Microsoft. I think there's been more cutbacks since 2023 but not enough to register.

Best wishes to those affected. #techlife #MSFT #jobs

As a dev lead, I triaged all incoming bugs, like crashes. I'd load up WinDBG and figure out what the crash was so that I could factually justify why I was assigning the bug to a person or group. THIS... this looks like heaven. Esp. if it can debug crashes w/ the PPL C++ thread library (🤮). #MCP FTW

A nice data-based discussion of how shipping is looking with tariffs. It talks about the tariff pre-surge and looks at data, especially with the port of LA, of what's down so far. TL;DW - chaos in the logistics system now, June+ empty shelves.

Alright, my new winner for best @stephenking.bsky.social adaptation is "The Outsider" on @hbomax.bsky.social . Totally fantastic with great acting - esp. Ben Mendelsohn - and surprise, Cynthia Erivo is playing Holly Gibney. Sorrowful and super well done. #TheOutsider #HollyGibney #TV

I love Cliff Mass. I was ready to be without power due to severe weather, plus I parked my car under the trees to avoid damaging hail. The event was a nothing burger. And I wasn't surprised because Dr. Mass put out a post saying why he thought conditions weren't right for bad #pnw #weather.

One of the best video game beginnings I experienced was from Prey. My character is in a bar, I choose to play "Don't Fear the Reaper" from the jukebox, then everything goes to hell as aliens pull us & the bar upwards to their ship, the song still playing. But there are two Prey video games...

It's good to keep in mind the *Multiplier Effect*.

Given the number of job reductions in progress right now, I remind myself it's not just those jobs lost. The jobs help support other jobs, and those support jobs are at gone, too. Microsoft job supports 4-5 additional jobs. Brutal ripple effect. 🦋😖

I've been reading @wired.com since issue #1. It has had its ups and has had its downs (the dot com years being the worst - phonebook sized issues with wordy articles to sell more ads).

Anyway, right now WiReD is on fire and this is a great boss move.

May all car makers be permitted to follow #VW. I have a 2017 #Subaru. I got a 2024 loaner and it had no real buttons for climate etc anymore, all screen that you're fat fingering and glancing at real quick to ensure you're pressing the right control, vs. dials and real buttons. I'm not buying that.

I bought an Alice layout keyboard from Keychron. It's heavy enough to be a weapon! But different from my poor last Microsoft ergo ekyboard, which was slowly peeling apart. Anyway, I obviously have to get used to a new layout!
