Hello, lots of lovely new people here.
I'm Sarah, I do a few things

1. I make films. I'm currently making my first feature doc on Section 28 called Don't Say Gay at anthrobricolage.com
2. I write about how the world is designed and services as materials sarah-drummond.com/full-stack-s...

We've written about the 5 things that are needed in any scenario to create an organisation that can design and deliver services well

This is for all the people stepping into leading service design, whether it's in their title or not.

#celebritytraitors was really good TV right?

I went to see David Olusoga for a talk maybe a few months after filming and though he couldn’t really talk about any details, he mentioned just coming back from filming traitors and you could tell he really had had the best of times

The painful process of editing a teaser down for a festival pitching circuit by 16 seconds to fit the 3 minute maximum rule.

It's like writing proposals again for the digital marketplace, just in premiere pro.

This time, replacing small words like the + and, for chopping people pausing for breath

Yup it’s that time again I make another trailer for my feature as we shoot more footage then adapt the pitch

Making a feature is HARD WORK

Still coming. #section28

A couple of weeks ago @theschoolofgood.bsky.social shared a breakdown of 4 distinct ‘types’ of service design leadership we’ve observed through our work with orgss, training and coaching

💡 Idea leaders
🔧 Technical leaders
❤️ People leaders
📈 Delivery leaders

Reminder to self.

Don’t get a deep tissue massage, in a Thai massage outfit, and say you like it firm

Send help.

My documentary on Section 28 showed me how censorship works — and how it returns in new forms.

So I’m hosting a one-day conference on the rise of anti-rights movements and what we can do.

Most bad services don't happen deliberately.
We've written more about what to do when bad service design is deliberate.

Great day with Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park yesterday

I ran a futures session on climate adaptation and extreme weather events

We spent the day looking at our services then bigger picture of how our org needs to think about finance, strategy, policy to adapt to a changing climate

We wrote about the types of service design leadership.

Short answer is - there’s many roles and impossible to do them all
Leadership of service design can come in many different forms. We've written about service design leadership and our new course.

Me again, on about ticketing.

I want to do a save the date for a conference and collect email interest then when ready, sell tickets to it.

Is there a ticketing platform out there that can do this? Or is it a case of 'make a free ticket available' and name it something like 'notify me on launch?'
October 15, 2025 at 10:14 PM
What is the best ticketing platform out there now for a one off (paid) conference that can handle free tix/reduced and not give me all the extra fluff I don't need except the basics

Don't mind obvs % fee on ticket model but also one that's not insane

Any rec's?

An ex snook (who I highly rate) works at an AI x Data company and is looking for 2 FT bid writers / biz dev people.

.. could have experience of building a team, and/or someone who wants to focus on managing and writing bids. But must have experience of winning in the private and public sector.

Miss the old days of Argos, you know, the business model of real estate for their stock so you could get something immediately in person

Trying to buy an emergency basic 20/25L pannier rack in central London when I get off the train and options low

Argos model is now - get this tomorrow at 9am

Asking for a friend - amazing social CIC doing good things in nature.

Looking for a South West (ideal) based fractional CTO who can also get their hands a bit dirty, and help a volunteer model of developing their platform

They have a backend dev, and hiring a front end.

Any ideas/connections?

About to hit the road on and off for London, Scotland, London and Scotland again for works

But had a real time at the farm of late.

What you don’t see if tears at a circular saw guide, relentless leaks ruining a new ceiling and overwhelm of the job at hand

But hey, we keep going

Today's job > Watching back 2nd cut from editor

We've cut 10.5 hours to 6 hours
Now need to cut to 2.5/3 hours

Hardest job I've ever had to do
- Straddling macro and micro reflections/notes
- Trying to 'feel' my film without music/visuals that will go with interviews
- Loving every interviewee :(

Let it be known that I chose one local bike repair shop over another because one had an auto bot replier called 'Dave' where all avenues led to booking an appointment

The other picked up the phone and talked to me

Which one did I choose, you decide...

Spent this Monday starting the week talking about bathrooms, and taking photos of signs with @loudowne.bsky.social

This is my brain most of the times in bathrooms - who designed the service maintenance model, or did they?
What have bathrooms got to do with service design?

Author of Good Services Lou Downe, and our school director reflect on lessons in service design from bathrooms.

Whether it’s paracetamol or something else, Trump and co are perpetuating the idea autism is wrong and disability is an individual’s responsibility to avoid. It’s anti-science but it’s deeply ableist at its core. The goal is for non-disabled to be afraid and disabled people to be ashamed.

Received a letter to confirm household electoral register with a domain link to householdresponse.com + /myarea

My first thought was, is this a scam?

I get URLs changing when direct linked to 3rd party software via a council website but electoral register? Same for visas, passports, health stuff.

Nothing better than listening to a Fred Again... rooftop mix and before you heard it, realising you had already sampled and mixed the same songs from exact same cue points
