I think it was originally an English programme which I used to watch in the 1960s. The flowerpot men characters were string puppets. It came to my mind too when I was creating this shot. Little Weed actually stood between the two pots and had a face if I remember rightly.

As a photographer myself, I probably spend more time on helping the model get the hands right then anything else. And still fail some of the time.
