I simply want things to not be complicated

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. The end of my book draws near. But I need to pivot to rewrites of earlier chapters before I move on. I’m fighting the urge to finish the first drafts of the last chapters instead of trusting my process, which has worked well for my previous books. #writing

"Heroes never think they’re heroes." — Terry Pratchett
“The villain is the hero of her own story.” — Michelle Hodkin

Together you get something like this:
The hero of a story doesn't believe they are one. However, the villain does.
My tip for a protagonists/antagonist dynamic. #writingcommunity

Anyone else finding it super-duper-uper hard to get back to work today? I think the sudden lack of pie (we finished the last of the leftovers yesterday) is seriously affecting my motivation.

I am about to be very unkind to the solicitations for paid “beta readers.” At what point did writers start falling into traps where we pay people to read our work? It’s supposed to work the other way around.

The thing about getting kicked in the crotch is that you don’t get used to it. You spend your life not getting kicked in the crotch. So, when it happens, it's devastating. Even if life sucks, getting kicked still hurts.

Just a little thought that pops in as I write out stories. #writingcommunity

I am a proud father of an active-duty Airman and Sailor. I want to thank them, those in service in all branches of the U.S. Military, the families and loved ones who support them, and especially those who served honorably throughout our nation's history.

While rewriting a chapter of my book I sought out a thematic north star. I landed on:

A walk of shame after a very awkward one night stand.

I am writing literary horror set in a post apacolyptic western.

I started my morning with a cup of coffee. I sat alone in a room while the house woke up around me. I looked out a window and watched the dawn. With noise outside my door, silence outside my window, I had a conversation with my intent. What will you do today to inspire yourself? #WritingCommunity

I feel like calling out people #reading in public as #performative is performative. Read in public, private, or standing on your head. But please read.

Happy #AudioDramaSunday! This week I learned that my first narrative podcast, Dungeons & Doritos, was inducted into the Audio Verse Awards Hall of Fame last year! Which is cool but... no one let me know! Dungeons & Doritos was one of the earliest actual play podcasts (we started in 2009). 1/3

Have you listened to The Bardic Hearth? It's a superb fantasy audio drama - a tapestry of stories and songs that weave together into a heartrending whole. I was immensely flattered to be asked to play the God of Love in the season finale. (More later?) Check it out: www.theend.fyi/shows/the-ba...
