From hud.gov this morning. Dot gov domains used to be — broadly speaking — a good indicator that a website had reliable information. After months of removing research, history, etc. this is one way to put a final nail in that coffin.

Prosecutors across the US have increasingly been aiming not just for individual protest convictions, but to take out social movement infrastructure entirely — to criminalize not just acts of protest, but any support for protestors. Bondi is grabbing that baton and running with it.

Draconian anti-protest laws and prosecutions — like charging an environmental protestor with felony theft for locking himself to construction equipment — are rocket fuel for PR campaigns about the supposed extremism of protestors and divert time, energy, and resources.

with MPD and DHS setting up traffic checkpoints across the city, this "executive order" from DC's chief of police is the largest loophole you could carve out from DC's sanctuary city law without repealing it

Two blocks from the White House, DC organizers and clergy are rallying to protest the Trump administration’s push to deploy more federal law enforcement across our already heavily-policed city. Local news is reporting this morning that Trump plans to deploy the National Guard.

Zuck's talking about diverting entire major cities' worth of power generation - something that will be serviced by more fossil fuels - to his and his friends' pet project while our energy grids are already experiencing rate hikes and rolling blackouts and climate disasters are escalating

so this is the state of play today, as FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson keeps his promise to Trump that he'll "fight back against the trans agenda": every major professional medical association in the United States vs. Trump's Federal Trade Commission

The FTC could be going after the data brokers selling your most sensitive data or companies using that data for “surveillance pricing” — deciding whether you’ll pay more than they’d charge others. Instead it’ll spend today undermining necessary healthcare. As my colleague Sara told Politico earlier:

Since the workshop was announced, they've pivoted to a more direct title: The Dangers of 'Gender-Affirming Care' for Minors. Unsurprisingly, the agenda does not include representatives from any of the country's leading medical associations, which all agree on the importance of gender-affirming care.

just wondering how many times we have to go through this before we all agree these companies aren’t actually just a few GPUs away from curing cancer or solving climate change

the Big Beautiful Bill would “create a single national standard” for AI the same way that abolishing the EPA and ordering states to stop all air and water pollution enforcement would “create a single national standard” for fossil fuels
