I agree with this in principle but I'm baffled. With everything going on with MAGA this is what you choose to focus on? The headline writes itself:

"While MAGA destroys US economy and govt, Dems choose to focus on an equality bill they couldn't pass when they were in the majority"

So why introduce this civil rights legislation at all then? Why not roll over like you're saying they should for emergency powers? Your pushback on my point is effectively saying that performative legislation like this civil rights legislation is good, but what I'm suggesting is a waste of time...

Well, my suggestion above is that if Dems want to introduce legislation that’s doomed to fail, at least they can do it with legislation that addresses the anxiety we’re seeing in polls. Lots of what MAGA is doing is based on emergency powers that Congress can revoke.

I support this but is it really the thing to prioritize and focus on? We know it isn’t going to pass, so why not introduce smart legislation to get Trump under control?
