well it's still stability and a longer service live for a hardware costing 1/2 - 1/3, with still (tho dunno for much longer) access to second hand game market.

XSS is even cheaper and with dev access (isn't much extra) it's great unified platform for community projects

Add also this that PC ecosystem was moving incredibly fast, hardware requirements going a lot higher and breaking compatibility, many competing APIs etc. Consoles gave even more stability with longer live and even more important guarantee to run.
