If you want to quit a bad habit, you can gradually instead of quitting it completely. You do not need to quit eating cookies daily, just eat 2 instead of 10 in one sitting.

How do habits work? First there is a signal sent by the brain to start doing the habit, then there is the action of the habit , then the reward, and depending on the amount of reward your brain decides whether to do it in the future.
