Agreed. Her performance was outstanding. She truly impressed me. Especially when she switched between Lily and Brona in the same scene. That's no easy feat. The heartfelt monologue about losing her baby in the S3 finale touched me. Simon Beale, who plays Ferdinand Lyle, is also one of my favourites.

Indeed. The entire cast is incredibly talented. Absolutely no duds among them. Boggles my mind to think Eva Green didn't win any awards for her performance. She received several nominations, though. A Blade of Grass, from Season 3, was one of my all-time fave episodes. Eva and Rory really delivered.

And I agree that the story's vibe is strongly related to its location. It's tricky! I'm not sure if we'd have gotten the happy ending with Vanessa and Ethan together that so many fans desired; I believe it would have been a bittersweet ending.

But she is somehow connected to Amunet. It was evident to me that they will do something with the Egyptian theme in future seasons. Especially since we had the character of Ferdinand Lyle, an Egyptologist himself. I'm sure season 5 would have reunited all of our characters back in Victorian London.

I agree to some extent. However, I believe they needed to explore the Egyptian plot because it was such an important aspect of Vanessa's character from the very beginning. She's supposedly the incarnation of the goddess Amunet, although the spirit within Vanessa at the séance said she's much older.

According to some of the actors, the audience was dwindling, and the show was extremely expensive to make. Season 4 was to be, in part, set in Egypt, with Ethan Chandler, Ferdinand Lyle, Sir Malcolm Murray, and Catriona Hartdegento on a quest to save Vanessa from Dracula/Lucifer. Wasted potential.

The third season started out well. However, things went swiftly downhill after E4, imo. Many fans are unaware that Showtime cancelled the show just as the third season was set to begin filming. John Logan was forced to do last-minute rewrites and come up with an ending. Hence why it felt so rushed.
