I had my right TKR in Dec 2024; left TKR, this past May. Opioids did little for my pain but ibuprofen was a whole other story! I was able to sleep and was driving within a week following both surgeries. Not heard of amitriptyline for post-surgical pain. It's typically used for chronic neuropathy.

I too had a 2004 Passat (station wagon); drove it for 17 years and +225k miles in Vermont. Best damn vehicle EVER! As far as I know, she's still at it!

Right leg, surgery December 2024; left leg, May 2025. No staples - never any dressing to change. The VA sent me to a small hospital in Lewisburg, WV for both knee replacements (Dr. Stapleton 😆) and then I rehabbed at the VA in Beckley for a week. Feeling like a 35 y.o. again!
