I'm sure the use cases for AI will be found, but what is the rush? I guess managers really believe it's a "10x FORCE MULTIPLIER", but what happens when that falls apart and you're left with a bag of "it works sometimes for some situations". This doesn't sound like a good business strategy.

It's in other industries too. Slices of budgets are put into "incorporating AI", but the use cases are largely very vague or trivial. Nobody wants to fall off the train but no one knows where it's going or if it's even moving, but money get shoved into the engine anyway.

This has the feel of a press conference by a newly formed supergroup of 90's era musicians and how their album will change everything.

I think it was even worse. He said people are caterpillars who extract "nuggets of understanding." The butterfly is GPT4. So essentially people/bodies are slugs and disembodied mathematical constructs (the mind for these kinds of computationalists) are angels.

What is his plan after this? Golden parachute? There's no way these people will be taken seriously after the bubble bursts.

Maybe some cultural things don't translate well? The Eastern/Nordic European tropes and atmosphere, it's making fun of itself and the mindset of those cultures all the time, but that might come off as dumb/tacky/exaggerated/pretentious unless you've lived it.

Information is also venerated as existing separate from people. A personality is just a pesky filter getting in the way of information and has no role or value of its own. People don't exist, only information does. Although if these types committed fully, they would consider themselves worthless too

This is the problem with AI belief too, that an arrangement of bits has some platonic form. The same bits can crash a car or play weird janky music. At best we can create proxies of our own interpretations.

I had a two-year break like 10 years ago. It did at least teach me not to do that again, no matter the circumstances :D Also I find that sometimes my brain derps out for a while even if I haven't taken a break. Usually when I'm oversaturated with art and my brain needs to simmer for a while.

I find it's a linear relationship. If I don't draw for a week, it takes a week to get back where I was. Once had a two month break because of life stuff, took two months to get back. So I lost four months. Over time it's gotten faster to get back, but not that much.
