I would like to speak up today for the trans community.
You see, I know a bit of what it’s like to be politically scapegoated. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, suddenly anyone in America who had any amount of Japanese ancestry became suspect. Politicians preyed upon ignorance and fear. /1

@georgetakei.bsky.social Tule Lake, Poston, Heart Mountain, and Topaz. The locations where my grandparents were forced to go. They made sure I understood what happened. As a 4th gen Japanese American and historian, it hurts so much to see that many continue to fail to learn from the past.
Indeed. When they rounded up the Japanese Americans, myself and my family included, for internment during WWII out of fear over Japanese spies and saboteurs, two thirds of us were U.S. citizens.
Don’t think it won’t happen again when they come for the “undocumented.”
