#JernJam2025 voting phase is over and an updated version of Rift of Echoes is released for browser and download on Itch.

Many fixes have been made including a version selector for the Jam version and Post-Jam version.

I thought I could get away with not uv unwrapping/baking the texture in blender and instead add it in godot, but the alpha channel is causing issues.

People are gushing over A1 "art" and it still has a long way to go. Here it seems to render an image into sections independently using lighting, colour, and focus as the only anchor points. For the record, not a fan of AI and would advise against phone apps or payment for it.

A rough estimation of what the background will look like. It'll be done completely in colour using Libresprite. Then turn the thing into greyscale, lower the value a bit for contrast, and dither it. The textures it creates from flat colours is amazing.

Prototype complete and works. Now six days of content and polish for the Secret Jam. They'll be having so much fun, they won't even know it's educational!

Another step closer to an actual screenshot. The hard part is mostly over as the prototype won't have a facial rig or lip-synching. I need to see how this is going to look in engine before that mountain is climbed.

I decided to look at the forearm/wrist bone twist on the model after finishing with weights. Apparently it's a known problem with steps to make it not look like a wringed towel. Then I realised I modeled it with the (Standard T-pose) twist instead of in its natural, thumb-up state.

No idea how to distribute between each metacarpal bone on its own and the hand bone itself. I can see why you don't see much finger animation in games. Only the hands are left for weight distribution then it's all the fun stuff like clothes, animation.........

Game Teaser lol

1) Oooooo deck of cards;
2) Auto weight distribution of the armature didn't make the cut;
3) ...so I'm doing each vertex group by hand!

Learning/doing retopology for my Top Secret 3D game took around 10 hours.

I had to re-sculpt the hands, but it's a 100% complete mesh now and all that's left are the bones and I'll have my own base model that I can sculpt to create other characters with, fully rigged!

Working on some post-jam animations for Honour Never Dies. Making gifs is a fast way to test your sprite animations. Now I can see what needs tweaking by watching the animation dozens of times, like bringing the spear and torso forward some more.

No gif support here :(
