Important dad accomplishment: first time I’ve banged my foot in the dark around Maddie and I didn’t swear. I calmly walked back to the bed and whispered in Mrs. TinMan’s ear: ”fuck”

We’re completely smitten.

Part of it is my own fault. I didn’t have/feel like I had the journalism nous and I just wanted to be a column writer. I’m so lucky to have a small gig that allows me to do that every football season.

But when I’m feeling jaded, I definitely wish I’d given it a more honest shot.

To those who stuck with the biz: you have no idea how impressed I am with you. I did it for three years and loved it, but couldn’t fathom the anxiety that would come with making a career out of it.

Now I have anxiety in a job that no longer fulfills me and I just want to go back to writing.
