I totally agree. While both games are essentially the same quality wise, I found Metaphor so fresh and engaging that it edges out Rebirth solely on its more self contained and immersive story and tighter narrative. Rebirth is amazing but it does rely a bit much on nostalgia to be as engrossing.

I agree it is taking too long between entries but the games are still huge sellers compared to their contemporaries. It’s just that any profits they make from them and ffxiv are siphoned away by other underperforming games and SE has to set expectations super high to offset that cost.
