“Clip Clop” was the title of a book (about a horse of the same name) that my grandma had at her home when I was very young. Every visit I’d drag it out and “read” it.

I always pushed my writers to list characters in a panel in speaking order (left to right), and when they didn’t do it, I rewrote it for them. It seems like the simplest thing in the world, but some writers just couldn’t figure it out.

Season ten is where it lost me. There was a very distinct cliff between story/joke quality in seasons 1-9 compared to what came after.

I heartily endorse this!

Reminds me of the time I lived in Jersey City (NJ) and our first gen Italian landlady would bring us fresh pasta dishes. I’ve always strived to, but never succeeded, in replicating the taste.

Here’s Doug’s first sketch of the character.

Eddie, apparently Doug Wheatley and I discussed Falco Sang’s appearance on the phone, since there is no written description of him in the script. Doug took my “Sherlock Holmes” input and combined it with the actor who played the French detective from the beginning of The French Connection.

Ha! Nope. Falco Sang’s physical description (not his clothing or mannerisms, just his physicality) was based, in my mind, on Sherlock Holmes. Now, I don’t know who Doug Wheatley may have had in mind for a model, but I doubt it was Falco the singer. I’ll ask him and get back to you.

I rewatched this myself the other night. So much to live about it. And Alec Baldwin is a hundred times better Jack Ryan than Harrison Ford.
